Theme Weaver is a WordPress theme shop that I created to sell pre-made themes (templates) to people all over the earth. This design is intended to be unique with the navigation menu at the bottom (like this site), and each post having a large horizontally oriented thumbnail. This is a photo blog theme that I created for Theme Weaver. The idea behind Flow is to allow bold imagery to set the tone of the site. In addition to images, video from various video hosting sites as well as short text excerpts can also be used in the main listing. This is a site that the Birmingham Business Alliance asked me to put together for a recent mayoral runoff debate. The goal of the site was to live stream video of the debate and allow people to ask questions and discuss the candidates via Facebook and Twitter. The timetable was also a challenge as the decision to create this site took place 16 days before the debate with the two week period including Christmas and New Years.

The end result was a site that echoed the style of the Birmingham Business Alliance, while bringing in two popular social media outlets and integrating live video.

I’m excited to present On The Side Films, the portfolio of Greg Embry. Greg is a film maker who crafts 8mm movies of people’s weddings. The results are quite impressive.

Greg was looking for a simple site that would compliment his films not over shadow them.  Since he is an fan of Apple, it made sense to keep things simple and clean.

This is a WordPress theme that I have released for people that want a site that is visually striking.  It features a large prominent image for the front page as well as an option to have as many pages with large picture backgrounds as you’d like.

This is the first site that I created for SERVPro, a nationally franchised service company.  The company had a spot on the national site, but lacked a local presence.  The owner appreciated the value of WordPress and chose to use it as his content management system.

This is the site that I designed for a new non-profit foundation that helps soldiers returning from war who are suffering with PTSD.  It is a great cause that I am pleased to support.

The idea behind this design was to a have a worn, black and white picture of war serving as the background, while the main content areas would be in color, with a more peaceful appearance.

One of the challenges this site presented was the necessity to address several different audiences at the same time.  Potential donors can learn about DP and it’s services and then make a donation.  Soldiers or their families can discover what the foundation offers and then sign up for help.

Like most of the sites I design, this one uses WordPress so that the DreamPeace staff has total control over all their content in an easy to use management system.

This is a website for an exciting new church in Birmingham, Al called a2 Church.  The church has a distinctly modern / slightly industrial style that is part of everything they produce as well as the church’s facility.  We needed to carry over this aesthetic, but wanted the site to have a personal (and fun) touch as well.

Our solution was to have people appearing to look at the content from the bottom and sides of the page.  The selection of the people is random and varies with each visit.  It is possible to have as many of these as you desire.  A professional photographer is going to take pictures of people from the church to replace the stock pictures in the near future.

The site features a view of this week’s message, custom events, small groups, and podcasting pages.  To conserve screen space there is an a2 News Ticker at the bottom of the homepage that subtely displays what events are coming up at a2.

This is a site that I am creating for a cabinet company from Georgia.  It will serve as their first true website (their current site is just just a picture of their sales flyer).

As part of designing any website, I look to see what my client’s competitors have in a website.  It’s always a good idea to see what types of features and information they provide, plus it helps me make sure that the site I create is fresh and different.

Matrix Cabinets is actually the second cabinet shop I have created a site for.  Since the pictures in the finished site will contain many different colors, it is important to choose a palette that can work with various styles and pigments.  The woodgrain background helps remind the viewer of the materials the cabinets are made of, while still allowing for easy color blending in the photos.
