Client Proof WordPress Theme

Proof is a free WordPress theme that is designed to make sharing proofs with clients easier. To really show off a mock-up or proof, the image needs to be viewed in a browser. That’s the best way for a client to get a feel for how the site will look in it’s normal environment. I created proof as a way for me to share mock-ups with my clients quickly and easily.

Using Proof

Install and activate it as you would any WordPress theme. Once it is activated, go to the Appearance section of your control panel and select “Background” to open up the background editor. Here you can upload the image of your mock-up or proof. Once the upload finishes, set the image to be centered and not repeat. You’ll also want to set it to scroll. For best results, set a background color that matches the dominant color in your image. Then save your changes.

Now select “Proof Theme” from under the “Appearance” section. The only bit of information here is the height of the image you’re showcasing. Just enter the number of pixels and save your changes. That’s all the set-up that is required.

Now on the front of your site, you’ll have the proof viewable in a browser. You can easily send a link to your client. The theme features the wp-head and wp-footer hooks so you can add items such as a Google Analytics plugin and see who has viewed your site, even while it’s just a mock-up.

For my client area, I set up a “networked” installation of WordPress and added this theme to it. By doing so, I could add a new proof site in a minute or two for a client. Simple and easy.

  1. Will this work if your developing on a local host?

    Thanks

  2. Can I share multiple pages with this?

    • Great question. It does not support that. I’ve been working on an update that adds support for responsive designs. I’ll add in support for multiple pages too.
